Glasforms™ Continuous Filament Wound Tubes & Poles
Continuous filament winding combines the principles of filament winding with pultrusion to create lightweight, stiff tubes and poles with constant cross-sections and maximum durability. Unlike conventional filament wound or pultruded tubing, reinforcements are precisely oriented to optimize the stiffness-to-weight ratio. Axial fibers (0 degrees) provide excellent tensile, compressive and flexural properties while biaxial (85 degree) fibers contribute burst, crush and transverse strength. Continuous filament wound tubes also provide excellent electrical insulation for construction applications.
Thin wall tubes can be manufactured with diameters ranging from 0.20”—1.125”. The fabrication process allows for a unique axial and biaxial fiber orientation, as well as consistent and tapered cross-sections. Avient engineers work with customers to develop a specific resin matrix and fiber loading to meet the compressive, flexural, and tensile strengths required.
